Orange County Photographer | Ben’s Senior Portraits

Let us start by telling you this is the first time we’ve encountered a yo-yo as part of a photo session, and now that we have, we’re not sure why it’s never been done before. Maybe because none of our models have been as relaxed and yo-yo proficient as Ben?

Ben is a high school senior; we met his mom during a shoot for the band Instigator. I guess when your mom is the bluesy lead singer of a rock band you have cool in your blood, and Ben is a cool guy in the best sense—intelligent, thoughtful and easygoing. We met up with him in Orange County to take some senior portraits at one of our favorite spots, Irvine Regional Park.

Among other things, Ben is known for his yo-yo skills. Frankly, we’re impressed by anyone who can send the toy down and get it to come back at will. Fun fact: yo-yos, or something like them, date back at least to 400BC in Greece.

Ben is a great guy and we wish him all the best as he closes out his final year of high school and moves on to college. Congrats, Ben!

Happy Tuesday, folks! 2011 has definitely started off on the right foot. Keith and I have been busy planning a few tweaks to the website. We’ve also been studying the calendar planning dates for upcoming mini-sessions (e-mail us if you’re interested in one!). Sneak Peek: Giddyup!

Someone is about to celebrate a very special occasion this summer—turning five years old. And that certain someone is Chloe. Keith and I had the pleasure of meeting this spunky cowgirl and her mom Erica on Saturday morning to shoot some photos for Chloe’s birthday party invitations. Erica has a special Barbie cowgirl theme in the works. It’s even rumored that a pony or two may be on hand for the big event!

Since we needed a little western flair for the photos, we opted to meet at Irvine Regional Park in Orange. The rustic wood fences that line the park’s pathways complemented Chloe’s outfit perfectly. And check out her awesome hat and red boots! The girl knows how to accessorize!

Thanks so much to Erica and Chloe for the fun morning session. We’ll be on hand to photograph the party in just a couple months. We can’t wait to help celebrate.

2009 Year in Review: Irvine Family Portraits

Last December, Keith and I were excited to meet some new clients, the M. Family, at one of our favorite portrait locations—Irvine Regional Park in Orange, CA. And they were fantastic to work with!

All three kids (including twin girls!) were easy-going, full of smiles, and absolutely adorable. One of the girls brought her “pet” hamster, a Zhu Zhu pet, a toy which was all the rage this past holiday season. It was fun to see one up close. And even the family dog, Princess, stayed put for a few shots.

Thank you to the M. Family for a wonderful morning at the park. We hope you enjoy the slideshow!

2009 Year in Review: Irvine Regional Family Photos

Irvine Regional Park is a great getaway for any Orange County family. You can have a picnic, ride a train, throw a party with a bouncy house, ride a horse, or even visit a petting zoo—all in one fell swoop. With all its greenery and different locations it also lends itself to our relaxed style of family photography.

Last November, we joined the B. Bunch for a morning at the park. And we lucked out with great weather that day (we previously photographed them in July when the temps were a little too toasty). The family arrived in subtly matching clothes, with Samantha and Tessa wearing colorful red dresses that added an amazing pop to the photos; Kristina and Jason were equally chic in dark shirts and jeans.

Both girls did a awesome job in front of the lens. And we got a kick out watching little Tessa play in the Autumn leaves. It was also great to take some time to photograph just Kristina and Jason together. Thank you to the B. Bunch! We can’t wait to see you again this Fall!

Giddyup! You might remember the sneak peek we posted last Spring that featured this little guy. We were pretty busy bees all throughout last Spring and Summer and didn’t have a chance to post the rest. But no more excuses! Here are several shots of this adorable cowboy and his equally adorable big sister from our afternoon session at Irvine Regional Park in Orange, CA.

For us, family photos are always fun to shoot, but when the parents add unique touches (like a cowboy hat or boots) to outfits for the kiddos, they tend to be extra special. And the rustic setting at the park complimented the kids’ outfits perfectly. Thanks so much to the G. Family! This was our second session with the kids and it’s been so much fun watching them grow.

Sneak Peek: Splash of Color at Irvine Regional Park

Holiday portrait season is definitely in full swing. And Keith and I have been lucky to work with some amazing families this fall. One of them is the B. Family. You might remember them from the sneak peek we posted of their portrait session this past summer. But last weekend, the cool Autumn weather and crunchy leaves on the grass at Irvine Regional Park in Orange set a perfect scene for their family’s holiday portraits. And Kristina did a fabulous job dressing up the tykes. The bright punches of red in the girls’ dresses and hair pieces added some big splashes of color and contrasted nicely against the fall foliage.

It doesn’t get much cuter than this! Last month, Keith and I met up with the G. family for a portrait session at Irvine Regional Park in Orange. We were surprised how much Luke had grown since last Fall’s family photo shoot. We loved how Vanessa put together this adorable cowboy outfit for Luke. Giddyup! More photos are on their way.
